The Guardian is an enigmatic Matoran, capable of great power, and able to train other matoran to wield powers thought to only be available to Toa. He seems to know a lot more about how the universe works than he lets on. One of the episodes of the first movie implies that he seems to forget or loose track of things he is saying. He was killed by Malice Borg, though his spirit is implied to still be in his cave. The scenes in which he acted in in the second movie made high implications to the fight between Hapori Tohu and Dume. To this day who and what he is/was is still a mystery. He does not appear to go by any particular name, just "The Guardian."
He is famous for being able to see prophecies.

Due to a common misspelling in the movie, his name is usually spelt "Gaurdian".
